The South African mentor was initially brought in to guide the club in the continental competition but following last weekend’s success, indications are that he will stay on beyond his initial assignment. “We are still engaging (with him) but I can assure you that he will be here with us for quite some time because he sees this club as his home.

He even said in one of his radio interviews this week that he feels at home here,” Galaxy spokesperson, Tankiso Morake told Mmegi Sport yesterday. Morake said the coach is not going anywhere and will continue to lead the team in the CAF Champions League campaign as well as help them defend the league title. Ramoreboli arrived at Galaxy through a recommendation from former Botswana Football Association (BFA) technical director, Serame Letsoaka. He replaced Losika Keatlholetswe and went on to lead his new side to a 2-1 aggregate score against the Central African Republic side, Diplomat FC in the preliminary round. On Saturday, he guided Galaxy to one of the greatest comebacks to beat Tanzanian side, Simba FC in the second round of the competition. He has previously led Bafana Bafana to the COSAFA Cup victory.

Morake said when they started the campaign, their target was to reach the group stages. He said now that they have done so, they will look into finishing the group as leaders.

The draw for the group stage is expected to take place in December. He said the current success is part of a five-year strategy in which the club has set itself a goal to conquer Africa. “We need to have the belief that we can conquer Africa. Of course, we faced challenges because there has been no competitive football in the country for some time now. We had to come up with a plan to travel to South Africa for some friendly matches. And we chose Kaizer Chiefs because they had just reached the final of the CAF Champions League,” Morake said.

He also said the mood is currently high in the camp following the historic victory against Simba. Galaxy kick-off their Premier League campaign against Gilport Lions at Jwaneng Stadium on Sunday.
