Quick exit: Duiker is leaving Chiefs

Duiker joined the Kgatleng giants in July on a two-year contract to help the club return to the Premier League. The club’s communications manager, Jabu Mookodi confirmed the news and added that both parties are currently holding talks on his release. I can confirm to you that Itumeleng ‘Madobadoba’ Duiker and his employers Mochudi Centre Chiefs are currently holding exit termination talks.

This was necessitated by doubts management had on the capability of the coach to lead the team back to the elite league, as this was the mandate. So currently, the management is negotiating with Tummie to release him,” Mookodi said yesterday. He said the management decided on the action before the season kicks off so that they can remedy the situation now. He also said the management was also being considerate to Duiker to find a job before the season commences.

The decision to part ways with Duiker reportedly follows a series of unsatisfactory results in pre-season friendly matches. There are reports that former coach, Elias Chinyemba is set to return to the club as Duiker’s replacement. Chinyemba had previously helped TAFIC gain promotion to the elite league. However, his rumoured return to Magosi has shocked many after his acrimonious departure from the Kgatleng side. The Zimbabwean gaffer had previously taken the club to the Department of Labour over payment issues following his sacking two years ago. Meanwhile, Magosi will take part in the Dikgafela Soccer tournament this Saturday at City Polar Grounds.

They will take on another former Premier League side, the Black Forest in a match that is expected to kick-off at 4pm. Before then, Chiefs legends will take on River Kings. The tournament has been organised to raise funds for the Kgosikgolo Kgafela Kgafela Foundation. The event will also feature performances by some of the local artists as another form of entertainment.
