Police launch pursuit of armed robber

Ofithile’s co-accused, Ronald Dipholo, 50, of Podipedi ward in Bobonong and a 40-year-old man of Phaleng ward in Shoshong (names known by the police) who are currently in police custody allegedly robbed a Supermarket in Serowe and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

During the 40-year-old’s arrest on Monday, the police recovered a loaded pistol and cash amounting to P20,000 believed to be proceeds of crime. MmegiOnline has learnt that Dipholo was arrested on Tuesday in Gaborone by Sir Seretse Khama Police Station in connection with yet another armed robbery case.

In a media release, the Botswana Police Service’s (BPS) public relations officer, assistant commissioner Dipheko Motube stated that during the arrest the suspects exchanged fire with the police. Motube further stated that in Shoshong, three men attacked and robbed a family of cash amounting to P10,000 and cellphones.
