Fans return as Mares look to finish-off Angola

The Mares host Angola in the second leg of preliminary round of the qualifiers, at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium today.
This will be the first time spectators are allowed into the stadium to watch a national team since March last year. Only 2, 000 fully vaccinated spectators will be allowed into game. The Mares have all but secured a place in the last stage of the AFCON qualifiers, where they will meet Zimbabwe. The women’s team walloped Angola 5-1 in the first leg in Luanda last week and it will take a miracle for the visitors to reverse the deficit.
Once again, the Mares will rely on USA based striker, Thuto Ramififi who put up a solid performance in his first national team appearance in two years. Coach Ronaldo Nkutlwisang will also call on the services of Refilwe Tholakele.
Tholakele has turned out to be a reliable source of goals for the Mares. She scored brace in Angola in the first leg. Meanwhile Ramafifi has urged Batswana to rally behind the time ahead of today’s tie. “We are ready to fight and book a place at the AWCON. I urge the fans. The team needs the backing of every Motswana to qualify,” she said on the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Facebook page.
