He said the Sua Town Council Stadium is still not on the required standards to host Premier League matches. The club had originally said it will play its home matches in Sua Town when the season begins. The distance between Francistown and Sua Town is 170 km. “The council is working on improving the surface of the stadium that is why we will be playing our home matches in Francistown at Obed Itani Chilume stadium. Everything is fine at the stadium except for the playing surface.

The intention is to have completed work on the surface before the end of November. We then hope that we will be given the go ahead by the league authorities to use the stadium for our home matches,” he said. “On account of managing costs and proximity, Francistown is the most suitable alternative to host our home matches,” added Thebe whose side meet Gaborone United in the coming weekend in Gaborone in a season opener which will also be their maiden premier league encounter.

Late last year, Botash, the sole sponsor of the club announced that it will invest P900,000 to revamp the Sowa Town Council stadium in readiness for the club’s first ever season in the Premiership. That was after it was realised that the stadium does not comply with Premiership standards because it did not have suitable change rooms.

The scope of revamping the stadium, which took five weeks, featured the construction of new state of the art change rooms and referee locker rooms.
