The club supporters will converge at Botash Recreational Hall on October 28, 2021, to elect a new committee before they take on Gaborone United (GU) in the league opener at Lobatse Sports Complex two days later. However, the club’s spokesperson, Lazarus Mafa said they are not worried because all preparations for the season have already been done.

He said even though the committee might have new faces, the club is not most likely to make wholesome changes in the leadership. “As we speak, no one has officially raised their hand to say they will stand for which positions, but what I have noticed about this club is that there are always some old faces in the committee every time we hold elections. Our supporters understand the importance of continuity therefore even if they elect new members, they also make sure they keep some old faces for continuity,” he said.

Mafa said they expect to receive names of aspiring candidates in a few days but said preparations for the season have already been completed. Chairperson, Tirelo Thebe is expected to retain his position, together with the president, Seabelo Matikiti. The two positions are appointed by the sponsor, Botash, while the remaining positions are reserved for the society.

He said they have done everything in their power to put the team in shape so that it can finish in the top eight bracket in its first season. “Of course we have not played competitive matches in a long time and that has also affected other teams so it is not going to be easy. However, we have tried all our best to give our players exposure with some friendly games against the likes of Orapa United and Township Rollers. The reason why we organised some friendly matches in Gaborone was to allow our players to acclimatise and get used to playing that side,” he said. He said with Rahman Gumbo in charge, everything appears to be going well. The club has appointed midfielder, Tendai Nyumasi as the new captain.

Nyumasi joined Sua Flamingoes this year after receiving his clearance from Police XI. Mafa said the appointment of Nyumasi as the new captain was mostly influenced by his experience in top-flight football. Goitseone Legopelo was appointed the vice-captain. Legopelo also has Premier League experience with Mahalapye Railways Highlanders.
