Mukokomani tweaks election strategy

The elections of the new board were initially scheduled for October but a decision was taken during the BNOC Extra-Ordinary Meeting to postpone the polls after it was realised that the term of the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC) had lapsed in August. It has always been common that candidates work as teams during campaigns.

Mukokomani said the same National Sport Associations (NSA) that they aspire to serve, come second after the interest of the groups have been met. “My narrative is simple, put the NSAs and sport first. The state of our sport is in disarray because we take advantage of Batswana and sport.
Instead of advocating for sport and improving the well-being of athletes and administrators alike, we put friendship first,” he said. Mukokomani said NSAs should decide whom they want on the board. He said it would be irresponsible to assume that NSAs do not have the capacity to make their own choices. “The burden to elect the BNOC board rests with the NSAs and not with an individual dictating who they should vote for,” he said. For his part, Tshenyego said he has not formed a team yet because the final list was released on Tuesday. “There are some incumbent board members who are seeking re-election but we have not discussed forming a pact,” he said. Meanwhile, Malesu has a team that comprises Thari Mooketsi, Patrick Moesi, Tiny Kgatlwane and Irene Ntelamo.

Senior vice president: Tshepo Sitale and Mooketsi. First vice president: Boineelo Hardy and Kgatlwane. Additional members: Ntelamo, Tebo Segaise, Yarona Sharp, Reabetswe Jaba, Tlamelo Dube and Unaswi Matebu.
