The duo faced each other in the last election in 2017 and Malesu lost. The new kid on the block is Tirelo Mukokomani. The former Botswana Softball Association (BSA) president is expected to give the two candidates a stiff challenge. Malesu is fresh from suffering a defeat in the Botswana Football Association (BFA) presidential election 12 months ago.

The senior vice president's position has attracted a surprise candidate in veteran administrator and former Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) president, Thari Mooketsi who goes up against ex-chess leader, Tshepo Sitale. Michael Moroka and Patrick Moesi will battle it out for the first vice president position.

Botswana Basketball Association (BBA) president, Boineelo Hardy faces a stiff battle from Tiny Kgatlwane for the position of second vice president. Kgatlwane was Botswana Games 2017 patron and a member of the Local Organising Committee for Africa Youth Games 2014.

Irene Ntelamo, Mmaneke Maplanka (netball secretary-general), Reabetswe Jaba, Tebo Segaise (incumbent board member), Tlamelo Dube (cycling secretary-general), Unaswi Matebu (former hockey president) and Yarona Sharp (incumbent board member) will contest for the positions of additional member.
