In a brief interview, one of the directors of the hospital Dr Matlhogonolo Mongwa said they are at an advanced stage in so far as taking all the necessary steps to make sure that when the hospital opens, it is compliant. “We anticipate that the Day Hospital will be open in the first quarter of 2022,” said the jubilant Mongwa while in Cape Town. She explained that the building already exists and only that the phases left are the approval of the partition and modification plans of the building by the relevant authorities.

She further thanked the Ministry of Health and Wellness for its continued commitment to improving the health care sector and supporting citizens’ initiatives. Kalafhi Medical Centre has a staff complement of 60, 90% of whom are youth. The company hopes that with this expansion, they will create 200 jobs. Kalafhi Medical Centre, the brainchild of Mongwa, has seen consistent growth in an environment that has previously been dominated by foreign-owned entities. “We owe our success to providing our clients with quality, professional, confidential, respectful, and compassionate care,” she added.

The hospital will offer numerous services including, but not limited to, a state of the art physical rehabilitation centre, nephrology and dialysis centre, medical oncology centre with chemotherapy rooms, ambulatory surgery, neurology, gynaecology, paediatrics, general practice services, laboratory services, emergency medical services and various other specialist services offered by visiting specialists at a time.
