The country’s main business lobby group, Business Botswana, has thrown its weight behind the event to be held on October 28. The dialogue is known as the Botswana Asset Owners Forum and will be held under the theme, 'Paving the Road to Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development'.

This morning, organisers said the forum seeks to address matters affecting and impacting investing in Africa from asset owners‘ perspective as well as to shine a spotlight on why investing in infrastructure is paramount to Africa’s economic recovery.

Briefing on the event, MN Capital Group managing director, Michael Ndinisa, said the forum is designed to help the investment industry particularly Africa to deliver returns on investment through responsible investing and the building of a sustainable future.

“This is a gathering for fund managers, institutional investors, investment consultants, wealth managers, high-level multi-sectoral stakeholders in the infrastructure sectors as well as expert advisors,” he said.

Ndinisa said the event is a step towards developing an ecosystem of asset owners, fund managers and investment professionals with an appetite to invest in infrastructure. The forum will also leverage the expertise of professionals as well as investors across Africa to develop infrastructure investment products specific to the needs of Botswana.

Some of the expected participants at the event include Debswana Pension Fund, Botswana Railways, Botswana Insurance Fund Managers, the Southern African Development Community PPP network, Botswana Development Corporation, Norsad Finance and others.
