Franco had just performed only three songs at 06:30am when the police arrived at the place and demanded that the show be stopped. This did not go down well with many people, especially Franco’s fans who expressed disappointment that after a long time, they wanted to dance the morning out with the legendary musician. “I’m disappointed. I really came here for Franco but it’s really disappointing that he played only three songs. He knows that we are here for him,” shouted one fan. Many others said they had really hoped to have time on the dance floor, dancing to Franco’s tunes but were also disappointed that they had limited time with their favorite star.

As usual, Franco & Afro Musica was the headliner, with MaGloo, Tyte, MC Maswe and Beauty Queens, Mmaratwa, Zolasko, Tshepo G, Culture Spears, and Ditiro Leero. Performances started at just past midnight, when the area began to fill up the venue, probably from bars. From MaGloo to Ditiro Leero, the performing artists took turns to perform. But due to the number of artists who were lined-up to perform, time proved not enough as the police pounced on the main performer, Franco, just when his fans and revellers were warming to his performance.

Eighteen months after music festivals were put on hold by the coronavirus pandemic, they have finally marked a return. Although major music festivals are expected to make official return late at the end of the year, the re-opening festival of the famous Mogoditshane Trekkers nightclub did not actually quench the revellers’ thirst for stage performance.

From way back when it was known as Chez Ntemba nightclub hub of entertainment, revellers always left the place happy and satisfied. Even with a change of management, the nightclub would rarely pass a weekend without hosting any event. However, the return of the nightlife in Mogoditshane got off to a rocky start this weekend, as revellers left the entertainment space disappointed that the main act did not get enough time on the stage.
