Trouble brewing at BFL

Its membership is made up of the 16 Premiership clubs. Of the 16, six have expressed their unhappiness over the status of the elite league. The six are, Gaborone United, Township Rollers, Gilport Lions, Notwane, Extension Gunners and Mogoditshane Fighters.
They will this morning brief the press on their dissatisfaction with the current elite league status. According to the briefing's invitation, the six clubs had written to the BFL board to raise concerns about the meeting that was to be held last night (September 28). At the proposed Tuesday meeting clubs were to discuss the ‘how and when’ of the return of league football. Prior to the meeting, the BFL faced a revolt from the six clubs.
As per information reaching Mmegi Sport, the six clubs are challenging the legitimacy of the BFL board, which is responsible for making decisions on the league start. The sources also suggest that the group wants a number of reforms, which include the issue of the board legitimacy. It is said all the moves are building blocks for an expected motion of no confidence against the BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti. The return of the league has been the hottest topic in local football. Since March 2020, there has been no action as running costs escalate without any benefits in return.
There are reports that the BFL needs P15 million to start the league. The majority of elite league clubs have started their pre-season training in anticipation that the competition will return soon.
