Sport codes have seen a high turnover as committee members quit due to various reasons, and Serufho is not amused. “For not only do they have the potential to unsettle NSAs, but they are also an indication that all may not be well in terms of relationships, philosophies, principles and other considerations,” he said.

He said some NSAs have, as a result of resignations drifted into an abyss that they have struggled to come out of. “We do of course respect the right of those that resign and understand that sometimes they may do so with a view to improve a situation deemed untennable,” Serufho said. He said they do engage with NSAs on occasions, especially in cases where several people resign at a go. He said their approach is usually from the standpoint of establishing what issues are as opposed to apportioning blame. “Where an opportunity exists to help the parties to find one another and if such would be in the best interest of reconciling the parties. We respect the autonomy of NSAs and rights of members thereof,” he said.

Botswana Netball Association (BONA) treasurer, Onicah Letshwenyo-Ramocha resigned last week citing the need to protect her license. “For the two years I presented the audited financials, the auditors could not express their opinions due to missing documents.

The last financials I presented there were still missing documents and it is because of failure to account by some members of the committee. The situation is not improving hence my resignation,” Letshwenyo-Ramocha said. Botswana Cycling Association (BCA) saw three executive committee members, vice president, Kagiso Molatlhwa, public relations officer, Game Mompe and additional member, Shimane Serameng, quit at a go. In one of the resignation letters, one of the members said BCA president, Metlha Masire was aware of the reasons that led to the resignation. The resignation letters indicate that they have held several meetings as the executive trying to resolve some issues.
