The first ever virtual elections had three candidates who were all powerful in their own right. Segaise won against the former BCF public relations officer, Kutlwano Tatolo and Mabedi Mbo. Segaise told Sport Monitor after his victory that he worked hard together with his team to achieve the feat. The majority of the members of the executive committee belonged to Segaise's camp while Dr Moses Khutsafalo (vice president-technical) and Michael Mbaiwa (development director) were from a different camp.

The public relations officer, Dave Motshabi was an independent candidate. “We are obviously very happy that the sweat of our brows has resulted in victory. The chess community has spoken and as their servants we have to carry their mandate forward. The work before us will be a very daunting one. We do not have much time to celebrate our victory and we must definitely hit the ground running,” Segaise said.

He said the new committee has to convene as urgently as possible so that they work on their strategies together. He explained that he has his own objectives which he obviously need to discuss and dovetail with the ideas of the other members. “I said in my campaign that there will be a number of things which need to be achieved within the first 100 days in office.

Being the president, however, does not mean that I should be imposing my views hence why it will be important to meet with my committee first and take things from there,” Segaise said. The new executive committee: Jeremiah Dikgang (vice president-administration), Mokwaledi Mokwadi Tingwane (secretary general), Masego Motlotle (treasurer) and Thompson Modisane (ratings and tournaments.)
