Systems were left without a head coach following the death of Keitumetse ‘Pio’ Paul last month due to COVID-19 complications. The club has since been given two months by the BFA to appoint his successor. Systems have requested two waivers from the BFA.

The first waiver is for the association to allow the club to use two of their coaches, Kaelo ‘Wire’ Kaelo and David ‘Lefty’ Bothasitse on an interim basis while the search for the head coach continues. They have also requested that they be given the green light for the two coaches to sit on the bench while they await their CAF B Licenses.

“We have written to the BFA to ask for these two waivers.

We are waiting for the response, hopefully, we will get it this week or next week,” Systems spokesperson, Zolani Kraai told Mmegi Sport. Both Kaelo and Bothasitse have already undergone their training for the CAF B License, which is a minimum requirement to lead a Premier League side, but they are yet to receive their licenses.

At the time when he met his demise, Paul was yet to sit on the bench in an official match as the Alarm Boys’ head coach. He was also the national Under-20 coach.

Kraai said the club remains without a head coach as the hunt for Paul’s successor continues. Paul joined Systems last year after the departure of Daniel Nare who had just led them to a successful 2019-2020 league fourth finish place on the log. Nare is now the head coach at Morupule Wanderers.

Paul was one of the highly qualified coaches who had been licensed to sit on the bench for Premier League matches.
