KBL has been in a legal tussle with the State, challenging the alcohol ban that was effected some time back due to the rise in COVID-19 infections and deaths. They were supposed to appear at the Court of Appeal tomorrow (Thursday) after losing the case at the High Court on urgency recently.

The largest brewer had filed an appeal seeking for the High Court ruling to be overturned but President Mokgweetsi Masisi lifted the ban before the due date for hearing of the matter.

Subsequently, in a notice of withdrawal seen by Mmegi, the brewer indicated a desire to withdraw the matter.

“The applicant hereby wishes to withdraw the matter from the roll,” reads the notice. The company was suing President Masisi, director of Health and Attorney General.

Monthe Marumo (Incorporating Molatlhegi Attorneys) represents Masisi, AG and director of Health while Minchin & Kelly represents KBL.
