BFL Denies Questioning BFA Constitution Legitimacy

This past week there have been social media reports that some Premier League clubs are of the view that the changes in the BFA constitution were approved without the go-ahead of the general assembly.

However, Ralebala said they have also read about the reports on social media. He said if that it is true, they are wondering how such a thing could happen. He said if that is the case, he does not know who the clubs represent because officially his office has not sanctioned anything of that sort.

He stated that the BFL has its own constitution since it gained autonomy from the mother body. “We have our own constitution which is currently in use. That is not to say that we cannot make some changes on it going forward if the need arises,” he said.

Ralebala also said the BFL, like the rest of the sporting fraternity will wait for details concerning the envisaged lifting of the ban on sporting activities. The activities have been on suspension for the past three weeks following the rise in casualties from COVID-19 related illnesses. The football season was previously expected to start on September 11.

On Friday evening, president Mokgweetsi Masisi announced that the restrictions imposed three weeks ago are coming to an end today including public gatherings but did not specifically mention sport.

Meanwhile, Ralebala said just like everyone they are still waiting for the verdict on the appeals made by four expelled clubs. The First Instance Body (FIB) recently revealed that it has denied Mahalapye Railways Highlanders, Extension Gunners, Notwane, Mogoditshane Fighters and Gilport Lions licenses after failing to comply with Club Licensing requirements.

The five clubs are hoping that their appeals become successful so that they can retain their Premier League status. Ralebala said they will wait for the right structures to deal with the matter to its end because they would not want to seen to be meddling.
