In a game played at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, South Africa, Double Action conceded two quickfire goals in the first half as Rhino Queens capitalised on sloppy defending.

The local side were a goal down as early as the fourth minute, with Mavis Chirandu getting the lead for the Rhino Queens. A minute later, Action went further behind when Marjory Nyaumwe doubled the lead for the Zimbabwean side.

Under the tutelage of Oupa Kowa, Action tried to stage a comeback but their efforts were futile.

The team fought hard but their front line that included Lone Kgalaeng, Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse and Lesego Mogotsi fired blanks in front of the Rhino Queens’ goal. It has been a very brave campaign for the Gaborone based side. It started with a comfortable 3-0 win over Manzini Wanderers of Eswatini. In the second group stages match, Double Action were hammered 6-0 by tournament favourites, Mamelodi Sundowns.

To book a place in the knockout stages of the regional qualifiers, Action beat Lesotho Defence Force 6-0 on Monday. The team scored nine goals and conceded eight times.

Action is the first local women’s team to play in a club continental cup. The team secured a spot at the tournament after Prisons XI opted against taking part in the competition. Prior to the tournament, Action had last kicked the ball in an official match in February 2020.
