BPF delays Butale hearing

“We could have long called him for the hearing, but the COVID-19 restrictions have proven to be a challenge. As soon as the restrictions are lifted Butale will be called for the hearing,” the party’s secretary-general Tshekedi Khama said yesterday.
Butale will face the BPF disciplinary committee to address the allegations levelled against him by a university student party representative.
Another accusation is that Butale referred to the BPF national executive committee (NEC) as a kangaroo court. He is also accused of convening a meeting aimed at paralysing the BPF at a farm near Mahalapye.
Butale maintains his innocence on all charges. The former Tati West legislator and his supporters believe that the charges against him are just a ploy to get rid of him as president.
Butale’s hearing was first postponed in May this year after the party disciplinary committee said that it is still resolving some issues. The hearing was again postponed in July this year.
Since then, the party has been silent on Butale’s hearing. Some have even averred that the party is reluctant to call Butale for a hearing because there is no solid case against him.
