The retreat was to be attended by the executives of the coalition. This was confirmed by UDC spokesperson, Moeti Mohwasa in an interview with Mmegi.

“Because of the current COVID-19 situation we have decided to indefinitely postpone the retreat,” said Mohwasa in a interview.

The country has experienced a surge in COVID-19 deaths and cases in recent weeks. Last month in Palapye UDC leaders agreed that a retreat should be held to address challenges facing the coalition.

They also reached a consensus that they need a retreat for them to cool off as well as boost the spirit of connectedness amongst them. The recommendation was made following months of tension among parties in the coalition.

In particular, the BCP accused other UDC partners of not adhering to proper governance protocols when running affairs of the coalition. On the other hand, other UDC parties accused the BCP of deliberately snubbing key coalition activities for political expediency.
