Dibete Police Station commander, Superintendent Meshack Rranku revealed this when reached for an interview by The Monitor.
Rranku said earlier today that travellers flocked the checkpoint heading to the north despite the health minister banning travel and movement across zones.
“We had an influx of travellers earlier today heading to the northern part of the country. There were about four buses travelling to the north. We ended up allowing those with permits to cross and those without to turn back after failing to produce permits at the checkpoint,” Rranku said.
Asked if travellers were in possession of essential permits or not, Rranku said the majority of travellers were in possession of normal permits with only a few who wanted to test their luck without a permit on hand.
