The Botswana Football League (BFL) shareholders yesterday ushered in a new board of directors at a special meeting. Gaborone United (GU) director, Nicholas Zakhem is the new chairperson while Township Rollers president, Jagdish Shah was voted in as one of the directors.

Two other directors are Jwaneng Galaxy chairperson, Njabulo Gilika and Kagiso Mogocha. Gilika was the acting chairperson after the resignation of Aryl Ralebala last week.

A statement from the BFL chief executive officer (CEO), Solomon Ramochotlhwane says two other independent directors will be voted in line with the BFL constitution. Zakhem has publicly criticized both the Botswana Football Association (BFA) and Ralebala’s leadership in recent weeks. The new board is expected to hit the ground running with the football season expected to commence later this month. Ralebala’s resignation came after mounting pressure from some BFL shareholders in recent weeks.
