Botswana Football Association (BFA) acting chief executive officer (CEO), Tshepo Mphukuthi has said Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote fell ill this week, which led to the cancellation of a press briefing the Zebras interim coach was due to address this week.

The BFA announced Mpote as the interim national team coach last week Thursday, and the Orapa United mentor was due to address a press conference on Tuesday. However, the event was cancelled at the 11th minute without explanation, except that the meeting would be convened at a later date. Reports were the BFA was still ascertaining if the coach’s coaching badges were sufficient to enable him to sit on the Zebras bench.

But Mphukuthi has rubbished the reports and instead said Mpote fell ill in the hours leading to Tuesday’s briefing.
