Water levels worry Youth Games organisers

Poor inflows into the Gaborone Dam has had the organisers of the 2014 Africa Youth Games worried and they are now exploring other avenues.

 

Gaborone Dam is scheduled to host canoeing and rowing games and with just about four months before the games, organisers are getting worried about low dam levels. The Games' Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tuelo Serufho said they have not reached any conclusion as yet regarding a venue shift if the situation does not improve, but are still consulting with relevant stakeholders. However, he said they are exploring possibility of using other dams in the northern side of the country where the rains have been good."We are not giving up on Gaborone dam but at the same time we are being realistic.
