Softball Women Qualify For Tokyo 2020 Second Stage

The women’s softball team has made history by qualifying for the next stage of the Tokyo 2020. The team booked themselves in the second round by beating their cross border rivals, South Africa during the Africa qualifiers played at Pretoria over the weekend.

The second stage of the qualifiers would be held in Utrecht, Netherlands in July 23-27. Botswana booked a place by beating South Africa 8-1 to walk away with gold medals. The two sides have confirmed their places and would be representing Africa, finishing ahead of Uganda and Nigeria. Botswana and South Africa would move on to compete with Europe”s top six softball team in the World

Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) softball Europe-Africa qualifier for Tokyo 2020, with either of them aiming to become the first African softball team to reach the Olympic Games.
