Newspaper reports over the past few weeks have suggested that Khoemacau Copper Mine in Toteng (about 50km from Maun) is about to be sold for likely $2 billion by the private equity firm called Global Natural Resources Investments PLC (GNRI).

In the world of mining, this is very normal practice in the life cycle of a mine. You prospect or develop a mine from Stage A to B; then you sell to someone else for a profit.

We should not be surprised in a few years when PNR in Selebi Phikwe also sells its stake in what was previously BCL and Tati Nickel. This is very normal and should not invoke uproar.
