Woman dies in Gaborone early Sunday crash

Law enforcement officers say the fatal accident occurred at around 1am opposite Optimum Health Clinic in the Main Mall, Gaborone. Central Police Station Traffic Officer and Assistant Superintendent Chairman Nfakose said the deceased’s age had not yet been established. He explained that the vehicle was carrying five people, three men and two women, when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.

“The driver was a 32-year-old Ugandan man who escaped the accident with bruises,” said Nfakose. He said two of the passengers, a Ugandan man and a Motswana man, sustained serious injuries and are currently hospitalised at Princess Marina Hospital in critical condition. According to Nfakose, another female passenger was also admitted to the same hospital but remains in a stable condition. He added investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident were ongoing. Police are expected to establish what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into the tree.
