Following a gruesome murder in Ramotswa last week, where Anesu Hwenjere, 27, allegedly dismembered his cousin, Victor Mashenge's body, Investigating Officer in the case Oreenetse Ditshego has revealed that the victim was eventually buried without his manhood.

Hwenjere is accused of brutally killing his 27-year-old cousin by hitting him with a stone and proceeding to behead him, cut off his arm and private parts, and dump the body in a pit latrine on or about January 5 to 8, 2025. Appearing for arraignment on Monday before the Extension II Magistrate Court, the accused was slapped with a single count of murder to which he pleaded "not guilty" to. Making an application for Hwenjere to be further remanded in custody, Ditshego stated that the accused should remain behind bars because the matter is relatively new. The Investigating Officer further stated that this is a case that has left residents reeling in shock. "How the accused committed the offence is shocking.

He buried the victim in a toilet with (his) limbs (cut) off. After exhuming (the body), we then buried the victim without his private parts," revealed the investigator. Ditshego highlighted that remanding the accused is also for his own sake as his relatives are still aggravated by the matter. "Lastly the accused and the deceased are relatives. We fear the animosity that might come up between the relatives. The father to the deceased and the mother to the accused are siblings," she said.

Ditshego insisted that the accused poses a threat of being a flight risk as he does not have travel documents and a permit for residence. Hwenjere on the other end didn't contend the submissions made by the prosecution. Magistrate Kaveri Kapeko further remanded the accused in custody who will appear for status hearing on January 28. The case continues.
