The depot has not been emptied for a while now, because of a dispute between Gaborone City Council (GCC) and the workers. The dispute arose from the council decision to cut the workers’ hours of work from eight to five.
One of the residents Kedibonye Lepang said they were unable to cook with their windows open because of the smell coming from the depot.
