VDC recruitment outcry reflects Botswana's deepening unemployment crisis

The recent uproar surrounding how Village Development Committee (VDC) members are recruited has become yet another reminder of the desperation facing thousands of jobless Batswana, particularly young people. Over the past week, social media platforms, especially various district council’s Facebook pages, have been flooded with complaints from applicants whose names did not appear on the list of shortlisted VDC candidates.
