Uncle runs over sleeping baby

A Sefhoke ward family in Tlokweng is trying to come to terms with a tragic loss of their eight month old baby boy after his uncle ran over him with a car on Christmas eve . It is said the uncle had come to visit the family and ran over the baby who was sleeping under a tree.

The baby was then rushed to Princess Marina Hospital and died the following day on Christmas morning. Acting Officer Commanding Number 3 District Superintendent Olefile Badisang said no charges have been pressed against the uncle. He however said investigations are still ongoing. "From the information we gathered thus far, the uncle had just visited the family when the incident occurred. We have also since established that the driver has a valid driver's license and that his breath specimen came out negative," he said. Badisang called on drivers to drive safely, which will help them to avoid any obstacle they encounter as they can never know if there is danger or a baby nearby. He also called on Batswana to stop drinking and driving and also to observe road signs at all times.
