Dithapelo Tshotego, contestant in the chairmanship of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has withdrawn from the race. Tshotego yesterday cited lack of financial resources as his main reason for throwing in the towel. “I am withdrawing from the chairmanship race because it requires one to have enough resources to campaign, which I don’t have,” he said.

Tshotego is now backing Tebelelo Seretse for the highly contested position. He said he felt Botswana’s former envoy to the US was the rightful person to solve the problems besieging the BDP.

She has been in BDP structures before, and therefore she is capable to build it back. We need a party chairman who is not committed to ministerial posts,” he said.
