Botswana headed to the polls on October 30, 2024. However, the country’s usually critical and loud trade unions had gone completely silent. Contrary to their nature, this was perhaps their most silent year ever in the history of the nation’s elections. Despite a number of pressing socio-economic challenges that besiege the Sub-Saharan landlocked state, unions seemingly turned a blind eye. As the curtain fell on the 2024 elections KABO RAMASIA reflected on this rather unusual stance.
