The number of permanent destitute people in Tlokweng has increased slightly over the years, according to a new report. The findings show that the number of registered permanent destitute beneficiaries rose from 96 in 2025–2026 to 102 to date.

“This increase could be attributed to old age and ill-health,” stated the Tlokweng Development District Committee (DDC).

According to the report, many of the beneficiaries have been left incapacitated and are therefore unable to work or engage in income-generating activities.
