As President Mokgweetsi Masisi turns five years in office tomorrow, there are so many takeaways from his presidency so far but no one can ignore how security organs under his government staged the arrests of high profile suspects “movie style’ in the glare of the cameras. State agency, the Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS), which has been behind almost all high profile arrests under Masisi, has been accused of publicising arrests in most instances. “Hollywood style like” arrests all started with the dramatic arrest of former DIS director-general, Isaac Kgosi at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in January 2019. The incident took place in front of the media and was coordinated by Peter Magosi, Kgosi’s successor at the DIS. Magosi personally escorted Kgosi to waiting vehicles outside the airport. Kgosi has many cases before the courts of law currently.
