The concern follows another fatal hit-and-run accident in which a 26-year-old man of Taung was killed in the village in the early hours of Saturday. No.13 District Traffic Officer, Superintendent Obonetse Matshego, said police received a report of the accident around 12:20am from a passerby who had spotted a man lying in the middle of the road with serious injuries. He said the victim’s injuries were suspected to have been sustained after being hit by a vehicle. "When we arrived at the accident scene, we found the 26-year-old man lying in the middle of the road with serious injuries. He was rushed to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital, where he was certified dead on arrival by doctors," Matshego explained.
He said the incident was being treated as a hit-and-run as the driver had fled the scene. Matshego added that efforts were underway to locate and arrest the driver. Following the incident, he appealed to motorists travelling along the Taung-Ramotswa road to be vigilant, particularly during weekends and at night, when most fatal pedestrian accidents occur. According to Matshego, most of the accidents happen when people are returning from entertainment venues, with pedestrian-related crashes reported almost mainly on weekends. "Drivers should know that they share the road with pedestrians, and pedestrians should also understand that they do not use the road alone.

There seem to be more to this case than simply meets the eye especially...
