Suspect arrested over 10 stolen cattle

A 34-year-old man of Letlhakane East in the Ngwaketse area has been arrested on suspicion of cattle theft in Goodhope recently Goodhope Police station commander, superintendent Batshwari Gaobatelwe said the suspect failed to account for the 10 cattle when interrogated by the police.

Gaobatelwe said when interrogated by the police, the suspect said he was relocating his cattlepost from Letlhakeng East to the outskirts of Goodhope. “The 10 cattle are made up of eight calves and two cattle all branded with the suspect’s brand mark. We suspect that the suspect might have branded the stolen cattle with his own brand mark.

He has since been arraigned before Goodhope Customary Court facing an offence of possession of suspected stolen stock,” Gaobatelwe said. The police officer pleaded with farmers with missing cattle to contact Goodhope police to identify the suspected stolen cattle. Gaobatelwe further stated that the suspect is currently in police custody while investigations into the matter are ongoing.
