South African man arrested for dagga possession

The incident occurred at the Dibete Barrier gate on Wednesday morning. The South African national was a passenger in a Toyota Hilux enroute to Zimbabwe from South Africa. The Dibete Police Station Commander, Superintendent Meshack Ranku, said the wrapped package suspected to be dagga was found on the man's car seat during the search of the car by the police which he failed to account for. "The wrapping contained a green substance suspected to be dagga estimated to weigh around 1kg with a street value of P800. We are yet to take the suspected substances to the laboratory for weighing and analysis while the suspect is remanded in custody for investigations," he said. Meanwhile, Ranku said the driver, a 42-year-old Zimbabwean man was charged for improper loading of goods and he paid P700 as admission of guilt.
