SOS faces financial threat

FRANCISTOWN: The National Director of Save Our Souls (SOS), Motshwari Kitso said that SOS Children’s Villages in the country are facing challenges that hamper the organisation from properly carrying out its mandate.

Speaking at the SOS Celebration Day on Friday, Kitso said the organisation has insufficient funds to cater for its needs.

He said that the government’s annual grant is not sufficient to run the organisation. “In a year the village needs P18 million to operate. In a month it needs P1.5 million, but the government covers only 40 percent of that, which is not sufficient,” said Kitso.
