Police are investigating a case in which a 37-year-old woman in Basimane ward, Serowe was roused from sleep, attacked, robbed, and then raped by an unknown assailant on Friday night.

Investigating the case, Serowe Police Station commander, Superintendent Poloko Oteng said the intruder committed the offence while threatening the victim with a knife. “Before fleeing the crime scene the unknown suspect also stole the victim’s mobile phone. Investigations into the matter are ongoing to locate the suspect who is still at large,” he said.

Oteng raised concern over escalating robbery incidents in Serowe where people, especially women living alone, are targeted and robbed. He further revealed that on the same night in another incident three unknown men attacked a woman in her sleep and robbed her of money and a mobile phone.
