Skelemani unlikely to return as Speaker

Speaker of the National Assembly, Phandu Skelemani is said to be critically indisposed and unlikely to return to duty when Parliament resumes on February 6.

Skelemani was appointed to the position in November 2019 after he and other party veterans assisted the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) in the general election campaign.

According to information received by Mmegi, Skelemani is still admitted in hospital, after falling sick while on an official trip in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) last year.
