Residents of Diphiring lands in the outskirts of Tlokweng are reeling in shock after a couple that owns a shebeen was assaulted and robbed by unknown attackers on Friday night.

Investigating the case, Tlokweng Police Station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari said the unknown suspects attacked the couple whilst sleeping, and assaulted and robbed them of money amounting to P900.

“While the couple was sleeping, the three intruders gained entry into their house. They broke the door down and started assaulting them with sticks demanding money. The 46-year-old boyfriend escaped with minor injuries and was treated and released the same day while the 53-year-old woman sustained serious body injuries and is currently hospitalised at Princess Marina Hospital. The unknown suspects who are still at large managed to rob the couple of P900 before fleeing the crime scene,” Rari said.
