Seloka Pleads Guilty

The court has set June 24 as the sentencing date for the accused Kgomotso Seloka who was represented by Gaborone attorney, Lone Masire. The case was held in camera to avoid leakage of information that could prejudice the pending trial of four other suspects. On Friday, Seloka's relatives from Kanye turned up in large numbers at the Magistrates' Court to give him moral support.
On the first count, Seloka is charged with obtaining by false pretences. The state alleges that on January 30 this year together with other people with intent to defraud the Botswana government, they obtained P3.7 million. The money was allegedly obtained by falsely pretending that Mogoaduba Venture Holding (Pty) Ltd, has sold and delivered pharmaceutical drugs worth the said amount to CMS. The transaction induced Bank of Botswana to transfer the money into Mogoaduba's account in a South African bank.
