SAMIM kills 11 ASWJ terrorists

PRESS STATEMENT: In support of Forḉas Armadas de Defesa de Moḉambique (FADM), SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM) forces launched an offensive operation on November 18, 2021, which led to killing of eleven (11) Al Sunnah wa Jama’ah (ASWJ) terrorists.

Nine (9) of the eleven (11) terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire in the general area of Macomia District whilst two were killed in the general area of Ninga, Nangade District where their base was captured and subsequently destroyed.

Amongst the dead are two ASWJ terrorists’ operational commanders namely Rajabo Fiquir and Abu Quitali. No casualties were sustained by SAMIM forces. During this operations, SAMIM forces confiscated weapons that included RPG 7 launchers, PKM Machine Guns and AK47 rifles, grenades and electronic devices amongst others. Nonetheless, SAMIM Forces continue to dominate and pursue the insurgents in the operational area as they have now been dislodged from their main bases South of Messalo river.
