Botswana Congress Party (BCP) president Dumelang Saleshando has challenged President Mokgweetsi Masisi to announce the date for this year’s General Election.
Speaking at the BCP annual conference in Maun today Saleshando said he is ready to challenge Masisi for the presidency. “I cant wait,” he told BCP members. Saleshando said as the presidential candidate he feels that his rival Masisi is shocked that there are only few months left until the election which is usually held on the month of October.
He said his party is only one which is ready in terms of elections preparations. Saleshando said he is the right man for the presidency job because he is the most experienced when it comes to law-making.
Besides Masisi, Saleshando will be contesting against his former ally Duma Boko of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC). Meanwhile, Saleshando also took the chance to welcome new members amongst them former Tlokweng legislator Masego Segokgo. Segokgo is defecting from the Botswana National Front (BNF) and has been confirmed as the BCP candidate for Tlokweng.
