The minister of Water and Human Settlement, Onneetse Ramogapi has recently attended the high level meeting on the New Urban Agenda in New York, USA on 16-17 July 2026.
The purpose of the meeting was to reflect on progress since the adoption of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) in 2016 and refine priorities for the next decade. The meeting also renewed political commitment to accelerate implementation of the NUA. The Minister delivered a national statement highlighting Botswana efforts to ensure well-planned human settlements that provide equal opportunities for everyone, and integrate housing with basic services, social facilities, transport, while ensuring climate resilience and adaptation-based urban policies.
He also met up with director, regional office for Africa at UN HABITAT, Oumar Sylla to discuss technical support on Botswana's urban development priorities.
