Ramakorwane steps into Makgophe's shoes

Following the recent suspension of the police commissioner, Keabetswe Makgophe, deputy commissioner Phemelo Ramakorwane has been confirmed as the acting commissioner of police.

Last weekend, rumours circulated alleging Makgophe had been fired with Ramakorwane appointed as the new police commissioner.

Asked to comment on the allegations, the minister of Defence, Justice and Security Kagiso Mmusi dismissed the rumour mill as false and misleading.
