Men have been advised to always seek consent before they can indulge in sexual activity with their partners.
Palapye acting station commander, assistant superintendent, Goletwa Kethamile said men must know that "no means no" despite being in a relationship with their partners. The plea follows an incident in which a 25-year-old woman of Extension 1 in Palapye opened a rape case against her 30-year-old boyfriend. The boyfriend allegedly sexually assaulted the woman when she refused to indulge in sex. Kethamile said the boyfriend had visited his girlfriend on Friday night and asked to make love with her but she refused. The woman indicated that she was tired since she had just knocked off and wanted to rest.
"The duo allegedly agreed to make love in the morning but when the woman woke up, she said she was still not interested in making love. Her partner ended up doing it without her consent. Following the incident the woman went to the police and opened a rape case. She admitted to being in a love relationship with the suspect but that time she did not want to make love and he forced himself on her," he said. He said investigations into the matter are ongoing. Kethamile pleaded with men to respect women.
