FRANCISTOWN: Police believe they have finally made a breakthrough in a series of rapes targeting students, with a 28-year-old man appearing before Principal Magistrate Dumisani Basupi yesterday.

Thatayaone Wabuya Nka of Sebina village is facing three counts of rape. In the first count, the state alleges that he raped a senior secondary school student in the thickets at Gerald Estate Farms on February 11. In the second count, Nka, whom police have dubbed ‘Forest Evil’ because he allegedly commits all his offence in the bush, allegedly raped another senior secondary school student at Gerald Estate Farms on February 25. In the last count, the state alleges that Nka raped another student at Japane near Borolong settlement on March 3.

Prosecutor Mothusi Meshack told the court that the state is about to finish its investigations.
