Police investigate Taupye death incident

Police in Mahalapye are investigating the death of a 52-year-old man from Nokaneng village who was found dead in a decomposed state in an unoccupied house in Taupye village on Saturday morning.

Mahalapye-Central Assistant Police Station commander, Assistant Superintendent Malakia Gabana, told The Monitor the matter was reported around 9:30am by a 23-year-old passerby. The passerby noticed the man lying motionless in an unfinished room in Mabuasele ward, Taupye, and reported the matter to the police.

“When officers arrived at the scene, they found the deceased in a bad state of decomposition. He had his identity card in his possession, hence it was easy to identify him. The matter was immediately reported to the village Kgosi, and the deceased’s family was informed,” Gabana said.
